*swoon*

So today was sort of my night out without toddler and Husband. I met up with my cousin at the @Loft_Dallas for @LandonPigg’s show. @mikeywax and @madidiaz opened up for him. They are both amazingly talented and their music speaks to you.

I had a lot of fun. Had a few very good drinks. If you want good cheap drinks go there when a band is playing, enjoy the show and sip on some malibu with pineapple juice. Also the bartender was super friendly.

Did I mention my hair is purple now?

It snowed here in Dallas. A foot of snow. I know what you might be saying “Pfft. One foot is nothing.” You’re totally wrong. This is a huge deal for us. HUGE.

One foot of snow is enough to build a snowman. Have a real snowball fight and make snow angels! We don’t get snow every year. Last year in December we got like I think three inches of sleet. But you couldn’t use that to build snowmans or anything because it would slip out of your fingers. It was like sand. Like powder.

Our state has random mood swings and we are the result of when Mother Nature gets hormonal, I’m sure. I mean what other state does this? Sunny, perfect weather and poof SNOW the next? I saw a group on facebook that said Texas is the bipolar state and that is so true :)

So enough talking because here are the pictures I took Thursday and Friday because you bet your bottom dollar I took pictures! This is a friggin historical event people. I just don’t think you get it. So let me say it again! In capital letters!

IT SNOWED IN DALLAS, TEXAS!

The first time my daughter touched snow. Fell flat on her stomach. She totally took after me of course in the accident-prone department. And since we were not prepared for snow we didnt have any ‘snow gear’ for Natalie. So we improvised. She wore multiple layers of clothes plus her jacket and socks as gloves. I know I know. Tacky. But it was her first time seeing actual REAL snow right in front of her. Oh and really? Could you deprive a toddler who had been up since four o clock asking to go build a ‘snoman outside’? I didnt think so.

Do you know the hell we went through to find snow gear for her? Before Husband came home on his way from work I sent him to four different places to find snow stuff for her. Walmart. Target. Dick’s sporting goods and Academy’s Sports and Outdoors. You’d think that one of those stores would have something right? WRONG. He came home empty handed and the toddler was so sad. So what do good parents do? We finished eating and headed to the mall.

We searched high and low. Like literally. All around the mall. All the kid stores. All the sports store. Nothing for her. Went to shoe stores looking for some boots for her. Nothing. Went outside the mall to the stores close to it. Nothing. More shoe stores. Nothing. Oy to the vey! Until we go spot Old Navy. I mean really we never go to Old Navy. Like hardly ever. Not that I dont like it but I’d rather shop somewhere else. But alas, they did have rain boots on sale. And a raincoat. Blue with gigantic flowers. She is STILL wearing them. The first night she wore them to bed.

But.. the point is that we found what we needed. Boots. And we played in the snow. And threw snowballs at each other. Built an almost five foot snowman that we decorated with organic fruits. My hands were numb all throughout the time in the snow because I forgot to buy gloves. Smart Mom, huh? But the look on my daughters face was SO WORTH IT. So next time that it snows here in Dallas, TX we will be so ready. Whether that be tomorrow or ten years…

*Edit: I havent uploaded the pictures to the computer yet and the pictures I have on my Blackberry arent great quality and I didnt get any good ones of the snow so you’re just going to have to wait for the next post for the pics*
