The first time I mentioned Twitter to someone in real life, they laughed and called me a geek. They asked me “Why would someone want to know when you go pee or what you had for breakfast?” I then tried to explain what Twitter was all about. They so did not get it. They were like its a waste of time. I don’t have time for such nonsense and blah blah blah. I’m not going to argue about it with someone who never even gave twitter a chance so I stepped away and just nodded and walked away. Like pfft whatever, you don’t know what you’re missing, dude.
It’s just so much easier to get advice about anything from complete strangers. Well, not complete strangers. Its just people are less judgemental online sometimes when you ask them what you should do when your toddler won’t go potty in her potty chair and there’s bound to be someone who totally and completely relates to you and knows exactly what you’re going through. Now let’s say you call up someone from your family or a family friend for the same advice, they’ll probably tell þyou that you’re not trying hard enough even though you sat on the ground next to your adorable weepy toddlertill she went potty. Twitter is so much more understanding.
And friendships just form so easily on Twitter. Its like instant friends when you search something up and see people thinking the same exact thing about that particular something or someone. Like recently I did a @landonpigg search on twitter and someone was like professing their love to him via twitter. Its like the new fan mail! Save the trees, people! For example, @rewritingkel. We haven’t met in real life yet, but we joke and laugh about the same things like her cooking penis (its not really what you think) but we just GET each other. There are sooo many friendships like this on twitter and in the blogworld.
Someday, you’ll read (or have already) read a blog post on a blog and just cry and cry and cry because you’re going through the same thing or have been though it. Its just magical how you stumble onto a blog post and find your bloggy soul mate or whatever you call it. People bond. Amazing friendships are formed. And many words are exchanged back and forth between them. Friends who you exchange cell phone numbers to always be a text away. @E_Rizzle and @MissMope have been my lifeline many times. As well as @rewritingkel. These girls keep me from losing my mind some days. And I’m forever grateful that they’re my friends.
Its not just the friendships that are formed.. Its the kindness of strangers, the love, the compassion. The way people come together to help a cause. Like recently @QueenofSpain’s kid decided to raise money with their original drawings to help out the turtles from the Gulf. And just very recently (yesterday) the whole internet donated 25 THOUSAND dollars to #tutusfortanner. This is the compassion I’m talking about. The love. And @wwbjhd is running the #blogher5k and he’s running for Tanner until he collapses. And people are donating for every 5K he finishes. See? Kindness. Generosity. People coming together for a good cause. Now tell me things like this don’t warm your heart.
The awesome @missdjm let me use her replies to me talking about twitter and why I love it
